Expectations of the "Sonderklasse" in Health Insurance: What Customers Really Want

Our client wanted to understand what people really expect from the "Sonderklasse" option. The goal was to analyze and understand customer expectations and desires for the "Sonderklasse", and identify which aspects are particularly important for different age groups and genders.


To get to the bottom of these expectations, we conducted a representative online survey in Austria. We surveyed a wide range of participants from different age groups and genders to get a comprehensive picture. We also focused on price thresholds to find out how much people are willing to pay for certain services.


The results were clear and insightful: the "Sonderklasse! is extremely important to the insured. Faster surgery appointments are particularly in demand—almost 40% of respondents would even pay more for them. This priority was equally high across all age groups. But that’s not all: other "must-haves" of the private ward include the free choice of hospital, the option of private hospitals, and a double room. These aspects are indispensable for customers.


With these insights, our client can tailor their private ward offering even better to the needs of the insured and increase their satisfaction. It shows that a detailed analysis of customer desires is crucial to designing a competitive and attractive insurance product.
